I’ve worked for at least five companies that simply closed up shop, leaving me and everyone else in their employ suddenly without income. I’ve been fired at least six other times (hey . . . it’s not popular being a conservative in the liberal media world). I do not recall - on those occasions when I suddenly found myself footloose and fancy free - receiving a generous severance package. Heck, I didn’t receive so much as a cookie, a pat on the head, or even two day’s notice.
In the cases where I was canned, the editors and publishers were even too cowardly to call and let me know; I found out when the public did, when my byline simply was exorcised from the publications as if it never existed. I did once receive a letter (this was from the Montana Standard in Butte) a week AFTER the fact, telling me that I was being ejected. This was pretty funny, as the letter was full of typos and misspellings, and I immediately scanned it and ran it full-page in my own weekly publication. The editor of The Standard was quite pissed off about that . . . but he was a flaming liberal and thus ALWAYS pissed off about something.
Anyway . . . whenever myself and others were forcibly parted from a company, there were no public protests. There were no editorials in the media talking about the unfairness of it all, detailing the hardships and near-certain disasters that we newly unemployed folks would be forced to endure. Nobody cared . . . and nobody expected them to.
It’s apparently quite different when Prez Trump and Elon start firing government workers (just a thought. . .is “government workers” an oxymoron?). The press, and the Democrat activists/politicians, begin screaming from the rooftops that the end of the world is nigh, that society will collapse if these super-dedicated civil servants (or civil masters, as I call them) only sought to work for the feds because they CARE about public service. They are only there because of high ideals, and they toil aways at great sacrifice to themselves soley for the betterment of America and the enlightenment of the masses.
Funny . . . virtually every government worker I’ve ever dealt with (with the exception of my mailman, who I like) has caused me nothing but headaches, worry and grief. Most of the ones I’ve known took the job because of high pay, benefits, a pension, and the knowledge that - after a probationary period - they had a guaranteed slot and could never be fired no matter how unproductive they might be.
Here’s an example.
A Kansas City TV station sought out a federal employee who had been involuntarily retired . . . who lost his job due to the “cruelty” of Elon Musk’s DOGE gang. The liberal TV station made it sound like this man’s position was crucial to all our well-being, and that his job loss would cause us all great distress and should make us all irate.
But (again) being a liberal TV station, and thus living in a not-so-bright echo chamber, they picked the worst possible person, with the most absolutely pointless job imaginable. Here’s a link, if you want to watch it.
Stupid Liberal TV Station Story
Now . . . I hope you didn’t waste your time viewing that garbage, because I’ll give you the Cliff Note’s version
“In March 2024, Jason Buck left his job with FedEx to work for the General Services Administration (GSA) as a Program Support Specialist.
“I loved everything about it. The work-life balance was what I was looking for,” said Former GSA employee Jason Buck.
In that role, he helped keep track of where Government license plates were needed for vehicles used by federal agencies.
“I felt like it would be something that I could go into and work till I retire; that was kind of the goal,” said Buck.”
First off (a personal rant here) are you as sick as I am of hearing the phrase “work/life balance?” That usually just means you really love your job because you get paid well, don’t have to do much, and either work from home or can leave the office whenever you like. Whenever I hear that . . . my hair follicles start to catch fire.
But really, the whole thing is beyond ludicrous . . . and the job position was typical of the waste in the federal government. You’re telling me we actually blew money paying a guy to keep track of expired license plates? Are we really supposed to believe that the government needs an entire oversight department, with many layers of middle management and workers, to tell you when a license plate is due to be renewed?
That shouldn’t be a job description. It’s easily handled by existing tech . . . you don’t even need AI. Every private individual with a vehicle automatically receives a computer-generated renewal notice -either online or in the mail - from their state’s Department of Transportation. Only the feds, apparently, still do it by hand. This is not a task that requires the kind of human input this dude provided. It probably doesn’t need any human input at all.
But the press, following the marching order of liberal politicians, think we should be VERY upset.
We’re not.
The fact of the matter, is that federal government first changed its philosophy on spending under FDR (well . . . technically during the post-Civil War reconstruction . . . but it became popular and widespread under FDR). Instead of doling out money on what was needed, staying within budget, and leaving the rest to the states . . . it began shoveling billions (and later, trillions) annually into what was “wanted.” It soon went all-in, creating massive, make-work positions to win votes, and financing the never-ending failure that has been federally funded, social engineering experiments.
This is what Trump and Musk hope to curtail. This is what the left wants to perpetuate. The Democrats, with the help of their propaganda arm (the media) are trying to pull on the heart strings and make us feel sorry for those who lost their jobs . . . even though the jobs were utterly pointless and unnecessary . . . and WE WERE PAYING FOR THEM!
Sorry . . . I have no sympathy. Federal jobs like that of the “license plate specialist” aren’t necessary; they’re superfluous.
They deserve to get Doged . . .
Such a great editorial !
Just looked up the KC station. Did not realize 5 was liberal. Do not watch it. But have begun to realize Channel 9 is a bleeding heart channel as the "people's choice." The "people" always seem to be causing havoc in the city or are crying about something.
I stick with channel KC 4 as they seem to stay out of the noise and nonsense others push for news.
